My paternal grandfather died when my dad was just 3, and my maternal grandfather died when I was young...I didn't have that kind of loving relationship with him, unfortunately. No memories of sitting in a grandparent's lap and feeling the love you describe; most of my grandparents having passed before I was born and the grandmother I did know was an invalid.
