Growing Fast

Jan 19th, 2004 by angie | 0

Friday was Micah’s first check-up since coming home from the hospital, and I am so thankful that we have a healthy, happy, baby boy!

Despite a clogged tear duct that turned into an eye infection, Micah has been healthy and growing like a weed. He is such an easy baby…cries only when he needs something, and he is so content to sit and watch his big brother run around the house busy as a bee. He’s already sleeping 4-5 hours at a time through the night, and I count myself very blessed to be getting a lot of rest!

Micah has already grown 2 3/4 inches and is 22 inches long…he’s already starting to outgrow some of his newborn clothes in length. He’s gaining over an ounce a day (and that’s only with me nursing him 15 minutes at a time!), and he’s now 8 lb., 8 oz. He’s lost his yellow jaundice color and has such a pretty, ruddy complexion. Yesterday at church Mr. Landes told us that he was “too beautiful to be only 2 weeks old…babies are supposed to be ugly when they’re that tiny!” We think he’s gorgeous, but we’re a bit prejudiced.

Micah is definitely starting to recognize me, and he’s holding his head up like a pro. He seems to have such a gentle, docile disposition, but who knows? After all, he is only 2 weeks old! But in those two weeks, I’ve fallen in love a third time!
